Amadeus

Black, white and red acrylic painting.

Black White and Red Abstract ArtMozarts’ enigmatic piece Requiem Mass was the direct source of inspiration for abstract art Amadeus. This copulation begins with layers of carefully thinned black and white acrylic paint emulating the fluidity of the music the master composer himself is remembered for . Disciplined application coupled with then the physical movement of the canvas akin to that of a conductors baton tenders to the perception this painting almost painted itself as the acrylic found its own freedom without the restriction of tools. Much time was allowed for drying between layers and creates texture in its own right allowing the viewer to find their own story between the fused lines that could be compared to the surface of a planet unknown through the hues of grey created. The “pièce de résistance” is the flowing river of red acrylic that grabs your attention the moment you set eyes on this abstract culmination and some have said the red infusion that finalized this abstract piece was a “brave” decision in itself , however to bring balance to the overall picture it was more necessary than brave and defines its abstract quality.Amadeus is painted using black, white and red acrylic paint on triple primed stretched canvas, finished and protected by three coatings of gloss varnish presented in a black frame and ready to hang.

The Requiem Mass in D minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was composed in Vienna in 1791 and left unfinished at the composer’s death. A completion by Franz Xaver Süssmayr was delivered to Count Franz von Walsegg, who had anonymously commissioned the piece for a requiem Mass to commemorate the February 14 anniversary of his wife’s death.
